What are Probiotics ? Probiotics are dietary supplements containing living microrganisms that help maintain normal functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, altering the balance of intestinal bacterial flora in favour of beneficial organisms.
The best-studied probiotics are the lactic acid bacterial strains Lactobacillus acidophilus (preferentially colonizing the small intestine) and Bifidobacterium lactis (preferentially colonizing the large intestine), which are components of the natural intestinal flora.
Friendly bacteria present in fermented dairy foods—namely live culture yogurt—have been used as a folk remedy for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. Yogurt is the traditional source of beneficial bacteria. However, different brands of yogurt can vary greatly in their bacteria strain and potency. One Bio culture capsule contains more friendly bacteria than several yoghurts.
What do probiotics do ? Pharma Nord Bio Culture is a dietary supplement containing friendly bacteria known as probiotics, which help maintain a healthy digestive system.
Bio Culture made by Pharma Nord contains an active culture of lactic acid producing bacteria (friendly bacteria) to help maintain a healthy intestinal tract. These ‘friendly’ bacteria are known as probiotics, which the body needs to maintain good health.

About Pharma-Nord Bio Culture The bacteria in Pharma Nord Bio Culture are encapsulated in a polysaccharide matrix, unaffected by the acidity of the stomach, and so pass into the gut where they are released. Many probiotics fail because they cannot withstand the adverse stomach environment in sufficient numbers. Bio-Culture made by Pharma Nord is specially designed to be stable at room temperature. The cultures are freeze-dried and presented in a hermetically sealed tube for added freshness. Bio Culture is manufactured by Pharma Nord to pharmaceutical standard and provides 10 billion bacteria per capsule with excellent bioavailability. Other capsule formulations on the market need to be stored in a fridge (else bacteria numbers decline) and so cannot be used for foreign travel and contain far fewer numbers of bacteria, typically 0.1 to 2 billion that may be reduced to ineffective amounts on passage through the stomach. The unique encapsulation of the bacteria in Bio Culture ensures effective numbers of LAB are released into the small intestine.
Are there adverse effects from taking probiotics? Oral administration of probiotics is well tolerated and safe. There are no reported adverse effects, and no known risk of overdose. Pregnant and lactating women and those on medication should seek professional advice prior to taking nutritional supplements.
